In short, a group of Redditors picked a stock that is heavily shorted by hedge funds and banking institutions, meaning they believe the stock will drop. The Common Investor took this stock whose value could be no more than $15 all the way to $300+, in a drive to bankrupt the hedge funds or at least make a powerful statement.
